GEORGE TOWN, Malaysia -- In the 16th-century Chinese story "Journey to the West," usually attributed to Ming dynasty writer Wu Cheng'en, the valiant Chinese monk Tang Sam Tsong and his companions travel straight home on their return journey from India. But what if they were somehow diverted to Southeast Asia, where the tale remains one of the most popular works of ancient literature?
