BIRA, Indonesia -- On the southern tip of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, the seafaring Bugis people of Bira village use ancient woodworking techniques to build phinisis -- traditional twin-mast schooners that have been used to fish, travel, trade and raid across Southeast Asia for more than 500 years.
