MADURAI, India -- Just as dawn was breaking, retired Indian Navy captain Gaurav Gautam, his wife Vaidehi Chitnavis and their 12-year-old daughter Kaeya awoke to find themselves adrift in an endless expanse of blue-green water in the Andaman Sea, off Malaysia's northwest coast.
