Hoping to keep its business afloat, Hyundai Heavy is boosting its R&D spending.

SEOUL -- Hyundai Heavy Industries will spend 3.5 trillion won ($3.11 billion) on research and development over the next five years, hoping to navigate growing competition in the industry by developing eco-friendly vessels and smart shipyards.
