Samsung's leaner, faster approach to smartphones pays off

The Galaxy S7 was released on March 11, a month earlier than the Galaxy S6 was launched last year.

SEOUL   Samsung Electronics' smartphone business has got a second wind thanks to its new strategy for staying profitable in a tough market.

The South Korean manufacturer on April 28 reported a third straight quarter of year-on-year growth in its information technology and mobile communications division, which consists mainly of smartphones.
