Southeast Asian leaders convened in Kuala Lumpur from Oct. 26 to 28 for the ASEAN Summit, with U.S. President Donald Trump attending for the first time since 2017. Trump oversaw the signing of what he called the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord, a ceasefire deal between Thailand and Cambodia. The summit also marked the formal accession of Timor-Leste as ASEAN's 11th member.

Next stop for Trump was Japan, arriving in Tokyo on Oct. 27. Trump headed straight to the Imperial Palace for a meeting with Emperor Naruhito. Trump spent the next day with new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, with defense and economic security featuring heavily in their talks.

Trump's last stop in Asia was South Korea, which is hosting the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum in the southeastern city of Gyeongju. Beyond the Oct. 31-Nov. 1 APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting are a number of high-stakes bilateral meetings, with Trump meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping on Oct. 30.
