Japan launches SDF joint command to integrate defense operations

TOKYO -- The Japanese government established a new joint operations command Monday to oversee the three branches of the Japan Self-Defense Forces, aiming to ensure readiness and greater operational coordination with the U.S. if a crisis breaks out close to home.
