NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday backed Mauritius' claim over the Chagos islands -- home to a U.S.-U.K. military base -- amid efforts to reach a formal treaty to resolve a decades-old dispute between London and Port Louis.
