The Lowy Institute, an Australian think tank, says the U.S. increased its influence in Asia this year, but warns of a grater risk of war as tensions between Washington and Beijing rise.

TOKYO -- The U.S. has seen a reversal of fortunes since last year, when China closed the gap on American influence in Asia, according to a new report by the Lowy Institute.
