TOKYO -- Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba on Monday was appointed by the parliament to stay on as Japan's leader, even after his Liberal Democratic Party lost its sole majority in the lower house in last month's snap general election. He will now lead the country's first minority government in 30 years.
