TOKYO -- Yuichiro Tamaki, leader of Japan's Democratic Party for the People, said on Tuesday that cooperation among opposition parties in a legislative vote to choose the country's next prime minister hinges on alignment over fundamental policy areas, including national security and nuclear energy.
