TOKYO -- Gerald Curtis, professor emeritus of political science at Columbia University and a veteran Japan watcher, made critical remarks on the ruling Liberal Democratic Party's latest presidential election and the selection of Sanae Takaichi, a conservative national security hawk, as its new leader.
