BANGKOK -- Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra is in a bind over the re-emergence of royal defamation charges and a top court order to pay a huge tax bill, with the legal troubles potentially threatening his personal popularity as well as that of his Pheu Thai Party with parliamentary elections expected early next year.
