BALI/KUALA LUMPUR/JAKARTA -- The ferry from Ambon, the capital of Indonesia's Maluku province, to the Banda Islands takes more than 16 hours to cover the 220 kilometers. And not only is the vessel slow but its capacity of 1,000 passengers is regularly exceeded, regular travelers say.
