TOKYO -- Japan and Vietnam agreed to deepen energy cooperation during Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's visit to the Southeast Asian country in late April. However, the joint statement released after a summit between the two governments made only a passing reference to nuclear power -- a subject of considerable public interest.
