Japan kicks off uniform Japanese-language teaching certifications

TOKYO -- Some 12,000 aspiring Japanese-language instructors are slated to take the first-ever national certification exam Sunday, part of a push by Japan to ensure quality education for international learners, many of whom it hopes will become part of the country's workforce.
