Japan to launch new residency status for those fleeing war in December

People who qualify will be able to live and work as long-term residents

TOKYO -- Japan will introduce in December a new designation for people fleeing conflicts like the war in Ukraine, the government decided Tuesday, allowing them to live and work in the country as long-term residents.
