SEOUL -- In a significant step for the region, three Central Asian nations announced in February they would launch a joint bid to host the 2031 Asian Cup. Excitement was, however, tempered by the fact that by the end of the month, it was just one of six bids in the running to stage Asia's biggest soccer tournament.
