IHI, JR West to join JPX-Nikkei 400 in annual reshuffle

Component changes for mid- and small-cap index also set for Aug. 29

TOKYO -- Nikkei and JPX Market Innovation & Research said Thursday they will revise the components of the JPX-Nikkei Index 400 and the JPX-Nikkei Mid and Small Cap Index as part of their annual review.

The JPX-Nikkei 400 will add 39 stocks, including IHI and West Japan Railway, while removing 34 such as Takeda Pharmaceutical and Kyocera. Five stocks were excluded after last year's reshuffle and the total number of constituents will return to 400.

The mid- and small-cap index will add 53 stocks and remove 48, bringing the total back to 200.

The changes will take effect with the Aug. 29 calculation.
