TOKYO -- Nikkei Inc. on Monday started calculating and publishing two new Japan REIT indexes. The Nikkei ESG-REIT Index will comprise real-estate investment funds listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, while the Nikkei High Yield REIT Index will comprise higher-yield J-REITs.
The Nikkei ESG-REIT Index closed on Monday at 926.07, 2.14 points or 0.23% lower than an estimate of how it would have closed on Friday. The Nikkei High Yield REIT Index closed Monday at 1,072.78, 6.75 points or 0.62% lower than an estimate of how it would have closed on Friday.
The Nikkei ESG-REIT Index will incorporate ESG -- environmental, social and corporate governance -- factors into real estate investments, excluding stocks with low liquidity. The Nikkei High Yield REIT Index comprises 35 high-yield REITs among the 63 REITs listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
