TOKYO -- Nikkei will remove Tokyo-based chipmaking materials producer JSR from its Nikkei Semiconductor Stock Index on May 1, the company said on Wednesday.
The index provider said in a statement, "The probability of delisting the stock is extremely high, based on the results of the tender offer bid," referring to a buyout offer from government-backed fund Japan Investment Corp. that closed on Tuesday.
Nikkei said the index's constituents will remain at 29 issues until November, when it plans a periodic review of the index's constituents. The index was first launched with 30 stocks in March.
